Ghoul

Artist's rendition of a Ghoul.

Ghouls, also known as the Night People are a species of Hominid native to the Ringworld. They are nocturnal, but can function during daylight hours if necessary.

Culture[]

Ghouls are likely the only ring-spanning species on the Ringworld. They are carrion eaters and carry out all the funeral rites of all the hominids of the Ringworld. They play musical instruments and take their names in the common tongue of the Ringworld from those instruments. They maintain a heliographic communications system over vast distances on the Ringworld.[1] Unlike other Ringworld natives, the Night People rarely engage in Rishathra, instead using their unequaled sway over other species to bind them to their neighbors.
